DIRECTIONS:
Velvet Loop Wrap Top - Style 1:
First, position the center of your wrap across your bust. Then, bring the ties around to the back and crisscross them (as shown in the photo on the model), bringing the ends up over your shoulders and pulling them down to be joined at the top of your wrap. Carefully pin them in place for a temporary, quick performing top.
For repeated wear, reinforce the ends of the ties and the places where you secure them with grosgrain ribbon or some other type of reinforcing material. Hooks could easily replace the safety pins and if you feel uncomfortable going braless, a bra that has crisscross straps should work well.
Velvet Loop Wrap Top - Style 2:
This design requires a little more work, but it's definitely worth the effort!
First, buy a bra that is close to the same color as your wrap. With your bra on, align the top, center of your wrap with the top, center of your bra and pin it in place.
Now pin the wrap in place along the top edge of your bra all the way around to the back shoulder straps, making sure the wrap is pulled tightly across your bust (you'll need the length for your shoulder straps). Then hand stitch the wrap to your bra.
After you've finished sewing, put your bra back on. Next, bring the ties around to the back and cross them. Take each tie and wrap it around your shoulder straps (under, over, under, over) once or twice. Pull the remaining lengths of the ties up over your shoulders and secure in place (as in Style 1).
For more coverage, leave your velvet bra top as is. To achieve the same look as the photo shown, shirr the center of your wrap vertically* and hand secure the wrap to the bottom, center of your bra.
Or, in a pinch, you can create the same effect by taking a large safety pin and weaving it up through the fabric and securing it in place.
*Note: A running stitch by hand will work. Just pull the thread to create a gather and knot your thread to secure.
